Jeremiah 49:19

“Like a lion coming up from the thick bushes near the Jordan River to attack a strong pen for sheep, I will suddenly chase Edom from its land. Who is the one I have chosen to do this? There is no one like me, no one who can take me to court. None of their leaders can stand up against me.”

They crossed the Jordan River and chased away the people living in the valleys, to the east and to the west. This happened in the first month of the year when the Jordan floods the valley.

and he said, “Lord, God of our ancestors, you are the God in heaven. You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. You have power and strength, so no one can stand against you.

No one is brave enough to make it angry, so who would be able to stand up against me?

When it comes to strength, God is stronger than I; when it comes to justice, no one can accuse him.

“I am innocent, but I don’t care about myself. I hate my own life.

Don’t judge me, your servant, because no one alive is right before you.

You are feared; no one can stand against you when you are angry.

From heaven you gave the decision, and the earth was afraid and silent.

Who in heaven is equal to the Lord? None of the angels is like the Lord.

Lord God All-Powerful, who is like you? Lord, you are powerful and completely trustworthy.

“Are there any gods like you, Lord? There are no gods like you. You are wonderfully holy, amazingly powerful, a worker of miracles.

God, the Holy One, says, “Can you compare me to anyone? Is anyone equal to me?”

Remember what happened long ago. Remember that I am God, and there is no other God. I am God, and there is no one like me.

“If you get tired while racing against people, how can you race against horses? If you stumble in a country that is safe, what will you do in the thick thornbushes along the Jordan River?

I will send for all the peoples of the north,” says the Lord, “along with my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. I will bring them all against Judah, those who live there, and all the nations around you, too. I will completely destroy all those countries and leave them in ruins forever. People will be shocked when they see how badly I have destroyed those countries.

One of their own people will lead them; their ruler will come from among them. He will come near to me when I invite him. Who would dare to come to me uninvited?” says the Lord.

A lion has come out of his den; a destroyer of nations has begun to march. He has left his home to destroy your land. Your towns will be destroyed with no one left to live in them.

“The first animal looked like a lion, but had wings like an eagle. I watched this animal until its wings were torn off. It was lifted from the ground so that it stood up on two feet like a human, and it was given the mind of a human.

No one can stay alive when he is angry; no one can survive his strong anger. His anger is poured out like fire; the rocks are smashed by him.

Listen to the shepherds crying because their rich pastures are destroyed. Listen to the lions roaring because the lovely land of the Jordan River is ruined.

Then he said to Korah and all his followers: “Tomorrow morning the Lord will show who belongs to him. He will bring the one who is holy near to him; he will bring to himself the person he chooses.

During harvest the Jordan overflows its banks. When the priests carrying the Ark came to the edge of the river and stepped into the water,

The great day for their anger has come, and who can stand against it?”
