I will bring back your health and heal your injuries,” says the Lord, “because other people forced you away. They said about you, ‘No one cares about Jerusalem!’ ”

God hurts, but he also bandages up; he injures, but his hands also heal.

He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.

God gave the command and healed them, so they were saved from dying.

But the Lord says, “I will now rise up, because the poor are being hurt. Because of the moans of the helpless, I will give them the help they want.”

Look around me and see. No one cares about me. I have no place of safety; no one cares if I live.

He gives me new strength. He leads me on paths that are right for the good of his name.

He said, “You must obey the Lord your God and do what he says is right. If you obey all his commands and keep his rules, I will not bring on you any of the sicknesses I brought on the Egyptians. I am the Lord who heals you.”

God will raise a banner as a sign for all nations, and he will gather the people of Israel who were forced from their country. He will gather the scattered people of Judah from all parts of the earth.

At that time the light from the moon will be bright like the sun, and the light from the sun will be seven times brighter than now, like the light of seven days. These things will happen when the Lord bandages his broken people and heals the hurts he gave them.

No one living in Jerusalem will say, “I am sick.” The people who live there will have their sins forgiven.

You were like a woman whose husband left her, and you were very sad. You were like a wife who married young and then her husband left her. But the Lord called you to be his,” says your God.

The Lord God says— he who gathers the Israelites that were forced to leave their country: “I will bring together other people to join those who are already gathered.”

I have seen what they have done, but I will heal them. I will guide them and comfort them and those who felt sad for them. They will all praise me.

I will give peace, real peace, to those far and near, and I will heal them,” says the Lord.

Then your light will shine like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your God will walk before you, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.

“You have been hated and left empty with no one passing through. But I will make you great from now on; you will be a place of happiness forever and ever.

My tent is ruined, and all its ropes are broken. My children have gone away and left me. No one is left to put up my tent again or to set up a shelter for me.

Lord, heal me, and I will truly be healed. Save me, and I will truly be saved. You are the one I praise.

“Come back to me, you unfaithful children, and I will forgive you for being unfaithful.” “Yes, we will come to you, because you are the Lord our God.

There is no one to argue your case and no cure for your sores. So you will not be healed.

“Jeremiah, have you heard what the people are saying? They say: ‘The Lord turned away from the two families of Israel and Judah that he chose.’ Now they don’t think of my people as a nation anymore!”

“ ‘But then I will bring health and healing to the people there. I will heal them and let them enjoy great peace and safety.

Isn’t there balm in the land of Gilead? Isn’t there a doctor there? So why aren’t the hurts of my people healed?

All who pass by on the road clap their hands at you; they make fun of Jerusalem and shake their heads. They ask, “Is this the city that people called the most beautiful city, the happiest place on earth?”

I will search for the lost, bring back those that strayed away, put bandages on those that were hurt, and make the weak strong. But I will destroy those sheep that are fat and strong. I will tend the sheep with fairness.

Then you will know that I, the Lord, have heard all your insults against the mountains of Israel. You said, “They have been ruined. They have been given to us to eat.”

They dishonored my holy name in the nations where they went. The nations said about them ‘These are the people of the Lord, but they had to leave the land which he gave them.’

It was I who taught Israel to walk, and I took them by the arms, but they did not understand that I had healed them.

“Come, let’s go back to the Lord. He has hurt us, but he will heal us. He has wounded us, but he will bandage our wounds.

“But for you who honor me, goodness will shine on you like the sun, with healing in its rays. You will jump around, like well-fed calves.

Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross so we would stop living for sin and start living for what is right. And you are healed because of his wounds.
