“Does having a lot of cedar in your house make you a great king? Your father was satisfied to have food and drink. He did what was right and fair, so everything went well for him.

David was king over all Israel, and he did what was fair and right for all his people.

Praise the Lord your God, who was pleased to make you king of Israel. The Lord has constant love for Israel, so he made you king to keep justice and to rule fairly.”

Josiah did what the Lord said was right. He lived as his ancestor David had lived, and he did not stop doing what was right.

There was no king like Josiah before or after him. He obeyed the Lord with all his heart, soul, and strength, following all the Teachings of Moses.

These were Josiah’s sons: His first son was Johanan, his second was Jehoiakim, his third was Zedekiah, and his fourth was Shallum.

He did what the Lord said was right. He lived as his ancestor David had lived, and he did not stop doing what was right.

But Josiah did not go away. He wore different clothes so no one would know who he was. Refusing to listen to what Neco said at God’s command, Josiah went to fight on the plain of Megiddo.

The other things Josiah did as king, from beginning to end, are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. It tells how he loved what was written in the Lord’s teachings.

Loyalty and truth keep a king in power; he continues to rule if he is loyal.

Doing what is right and fair is more important to the Lord than sacrifices.

Remove wicked people from the king’s presence; then his government will be honest and last a long time.

If a king is fair, he makes his country strong, but if he takes gifts dishonestly, he tears his country down.

Speak up and judge fairly, and defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

How lucky a country is whose king comes from a good family, whose leaders eat only at mealtime and for strength, not to get drunk.

The best that people can do is eat, drink, and enjoy their work. I saw that even this comes from God,

Tell those who do what is right that things will go well for them, because they will receive a reward for what they do.

this is the kind of person who will be safe. He will be protected as he would be in a high, walled city. He will always have bread, and he will not run out of water.

Power and peace will be in his kingdom and will continue to grow forever. He will rule as king on David’s throne and over David’s kingdom. He will make it strong by ruling with justice and goodness from now on and forever. The Lord All-Powerful will do this because of his strong love for his people.

Family of David, this is what the Lord says: You must judge people fairly every morning. Save the person who has been robbed from the power of his attacker. If you don’t, I will become very angry. My anger will be like a fire that no one can put out, because you have done evil things.

So this is what the Lord says to Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah: “The people of Judah will not cry when Jehoiakim dies, saying: ‘Oh, my brother,’ or ‘Oh, my sister.’ They will not cry for him, saying: ‘Oh, master,’ or ‘Oh, my king.’

This is what the Lord says: Do what is fair and right. Save the one who has been robbed from the power of his attacker. Don’t mistreat or hurt the foreigners, orphans, or widows. Don’t kill innocent people here.

“The days are coming,” says the Lord, “when I will raise up a good branch in David’s family. He will be a king who will rule in a wise way; he will do what is fair and right in the land.

It does not matter if we like the message or not. We will obey the Lord our God, to whom we are sending you. We will obey what he says so good things will happen to us.”

You must change your lives and do what is right. Be fair to each other.

So give what is in your dishes to the poor, and then you will be fully clean.

The believers met together in the Temple every day. They ate together in their homes, happy to share their food with joyful hearts.

The answer is, if you eat or drink, or if you do anything, do it all for the glory of God.

Obey his laws and commands that I am giving you today so that things will go well for you and your children. Then you will live a long time in the land that the Lord your God is giving to you forever.
