Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth. He said to me, “See, I am putting my words in your mouth.

He made my tongue like a sharp sword. He hid me in the shadow of his hand. He made me like a sharp arrow. He hid me in the holder for his arrows.

The Lord God gave me the ability to teach so that I know what to say to make the weak strong. Every morning he wakes me. He teaches me to listen like a student.

I will give you the words I want you to say. I will cover you with my hands and protect you. I made the heavens and the earth, and I say to Jerusalem, ‘You are my people.’ ”

The Lord says, “This is my agreement with these people: My Spirit and my words that I give you will never leave you or your children or your grandchildren, now and forever.”

So this is what the Lord says: “If you change your heart and return to me, I will take you back. Then you may serve me. And if you speak things that have worth, not useless words, then you may speak for me. Let the people of Judah turn to you, but you must not change and be like them.

So Jeremiah the prophet gave this message to Zedekiah in Jerusalem.

“Get a scroll. Write on it all the words I have spoken to you about Israel and Judah and all the nations. Write everything from when I first spoke to you, when Josiah was king, until now.

So this is what the Lord God All-Powerful says: “The people said I would not punish them. So, the words I give you will be like fire, and these people will be like wood that it burns up.

Also, he said to me, “Human, believe all the words I will speak to you, and listen carefully to them.

Then a hand touched me and set me on my hands and knees. I was so afraid that I was shaking.

Then one who looked like a man touched my lips, so I opened my mouth and started to speak. I said to the one standing in front of me, “Master, I am upset and afraid because of what I saw in the vision. I feel helpless.

The Lord told Balaam what he should say. Then the Lord said, “Go back to Balak and give him this message.”

When you are arrested, don’t worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given the things to say.

Jesus led the man away from the crowd, by himself. He put his fingers in the man’s ears and then spit and touched the man’s tongue.

At that time the Holy Spirit will teach you what you must say.”

I will give you the wisdom to say things that none of your enemies will be able to stand against or prove wrong.

This is what you asked the Lord your God to do when you were gathered at Mount Sinai. You said, “Don’t make us listen to the voice of the Lord our God again, and don’t make us look at this terrible fire anymore, or we will die.”

So the Lord said to me, “What they have said is good.

So I will give them a prophet like you, who is one of their own people. I will tell him what to say, and he will tell them everything I command.
