“At that time a person will be able to keep only one young cow and two sheep alive.

Even the poorest of my people will be able to eat safely, and people in need will be able to lie down in safety. But I will kill your family with hunger, and all your people who are left will die.

People will leave the cities of Aroer. Flocks will wander freely in those empty towns, and there will be no one to bother them.

At that time the strong, walled city will be empty like a desert. Calves will eat grass there. They will lie down there and eat leaves from the branches.

The desert and dry land will become happy; the desert will be glad and will produce flowers. Like a flower,

“Then the Lord said, ‘Hezekiah, I will give you this sign: This year you will eat the grain that grows wild, and the second year you will eat what grows wild from that. But in the third year, plant grain and harvest it. Plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

Then the sheep will go anywhere they want, and lambs will feed on the land that rich people once owned.

People once worked and grew food on these hills, but at that time people will not go there, because the land will be filled with weeds and thorns. Only sheep and cattle will go to those places.”

But Nebuzaradan, commander of the guard, left some of the poorest people of Judah behind. They owned nothing, but that day he gave them vineyards and fields.
