The Lord God helps me, so I will not be ashamed. I will be determined, and I know I will not be disgraced.

The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit by me at my right side until I put your enemies under your control.”

I will offer a sacrifice as a special gift to you. I will thank you, Lord, because you are good.

This is what the Lord who set Abraham free says to the family of Jacob: “Now the people of Jacob will not be ashamed or disgraced any longer.

“Here is my servant, the one I support. He is the one I chose, and I am pleased with him. I have put my Spirit upon him, and he will bring justice to all nations.

But Israel will be saved by the Lord, and that salvation will continue forever. Never again will Israel be put to shame.

Kings will teach your children, and daughters of kings will take care of them. They will bow down before you and kiss the dirt at your feet. Then you will know I am the Lord. Anyone who trusts in me will not be disappointed.”

This is what the Lord says: “At the right time I will hear your prayers. On the day of salvation I will help you. I will protect you, and you will be the sign of my agreement with the people. You will bring back the people to the land and give the land that is now ruined back to its owners.

Look! It is the Lord God who helps me. So who can prove me guilty? Look! All those who try will become useless like old clothes; moths will eat them.

“Don’t be afraid, because you will not be ashamed. Don’t be embarrassed, because you will not be disgraced. You will forget the shame you felt earlier; you will not remember the shame you felt when you lost your husband.

Today I am going to make you a strong city, an iron pillar, a bronze wall. You will be able to stand against everyone in the land: Judah’s kings, officers, priests, and the people of the land.

Hear this, all you nations; listen, earth and all you who live on it. The Lord God will be a witness against you, the Lord from his Holy Temple.

When the time was coming near for Jesus to depart, he was determined to go to Jerusalem.

“I told you these things so that you can have peace in me. In this world you will have trouble, but be brave! I have defeated the world.”

I am not ashamed of the Good News, because it is the power God uses to save everyone who believes—to save the Jews first, and then to save non-Jews.

So we can be sure when we say, “I will not be afraid, because the Lord is my helper. People can’t do anything to me.”

Since Christ suffered while he was in his body, strengthen yourselves with the same way of thinking Christ had. The person who has suffered in the body is finished with sin.

But if you suffer because you are a Christian, do not be ashamed. Praise God because you wear that name.
