Do not be stubborn as in the past when you turned against God, when you tested God in the desert.

But the people would not listen. They were stubborn, just as their ancestors had been who did not believe in the Lord their God.

Don’t be stubborn as your ancestors were, but obey the Lord willingly. Come to the Temple, which he has made holy forever. Serve the Lord your God so he will not be angry with you.

Zedekiah turned against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had forced him to swear in God’s name to be loyal to him. But Zedekiah became stubborn and refused to obey the Lord, the God of Israel.

“But our ancestors were proud and stubborn and did not obey your commands.

God’s wisdom is deep, and his power is great; no one can fight him without getting hurt.

They became greedy for food in the desert, and they tested God there.

They decided to test God by asking for the food they wanted.

But they tested God and turned against God Most High; they did not keep his rules.

“Do not be stubborn, as your ancestors were at Meribah, as they were that day at Massah in the desert.

He named that place Massah, because the Israelites tested the Lord when they asked, “Is the Lord with us or not?” He also named it Meribah, because they quarreled.

But when the king saw that they were free of the frogs, he became stubborn again. He did not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said.

Those who are always respectful will be happy, but those who are stubborn will get into trouble.

Whoever is stubborn after being corrected many times will suddenly be hurt beyond cure.

But your ancestors did not listen or pay attention to me. They were very stubborn and did more evil than their ancestors.’

“But Nebuchadnezzar became too proud and stubborn, so he was taken off his royal throne. His glory was taken away.

The Lord said to Moses, “How long will these people ignore me? How long will they not believe me in spite of the miracles I have done among them?

For the minds of these people have become stubborn. They do not hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might really understand what they see with their eyes and hear with their ears. They might really understand in their minds and come back to me and be healed.’

But some of them became stubborn. They refused to believe and said evil things about the Way of Jesus before all the people. So Paul left them, and taking the followers with him, he went to the school of a man named Tyrannus. There Paul talked with people every day

So Moses led the people out of Egypt. He worked miracles and signs in Egypt, at the Red Sea, and then in the desert for forty years.

We must not test Christ as some of them did; they were killed by snakes.

Do not test the Lord your God as you did at Massah.

Don’t be stubborn like the king of Egypt and the Egyptians. After God punished them terribly, they let the Israelites leave Egypt.
