Marriage should be honored by everyone, and husband and wife should keep their marriage pure. God will judge as guilty those who take part in sexual sins.

So the Lord God caused the man to sleep very deeply, and while he was asleep, God removed one of the man’s ribs. Then God closed up the man’s skin at the place where he took the rib.

So a man will leave his father and mother and be united with his wife, and the two will become one body.

So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Acbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to talk to Huldah the prophetess. She was the wife of Shallum son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, who took care of the king’s clothes. Huldah lived in Jerusalem, in the new area of the city.

It is like a fire that burns and destroys; all I have done would be plowed up.

Then I went to the prophetess, and she became pregnant and had a son. The Lord told me, “Name the boy Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz,

“ ‘If a man has sexual relations with a woman and semen comes out, both people must bathe in water; they will be unclean until evening.

“ ‘You must not have sexual relations with your neighbor’s wife and make yourself unclean with her.

The Lord All-Powerful says, “Then I will come to you and judge you. I will be quick to testify against those who take part in evil magic, adultery, and lying under oath, those who cheat workers of their pay and who cheat widows and orphans, those who are unfair to foreigners, and those who do not respect me.

So run away from sexual sin. Every other sin people do is outside their bodies, but those who sin sexually sin against their own bodies.

Surely you know that the people who do wrong will not inherit God’s kingdom. Do not be fooled. Those who sin sexually, worship idols, take part in adultery, those who are male prostitutes, or men who have sexual relations with other men, those who steal, are greedy, get drunk, lie about others, or rob—these people will not inherit God’s kingdom.

So the man who marries his girl does right, but the man who does not marry will do better.

Do we not have the right to bring a believing wife with us when we travel as do the other apostles and the Lord’s brothers and Peter?

because we must all stand before Christ to be judged. Each of us will receive what we should get—good or bad—for the things we did in the earthly body.

The wrong things the sinful self does are clear: being sexually unfaithful, not being pure, taking part in sexual sins,

feeling envy, being drunk, having wild and wasteful parties, and doing other things like these. I warn you now as I warned you before: Those who do these things will not inherit God’s kingdom.

You can be sure of this: No one will have a place in the kingdom of Christ and of God who sins sexually, or does evil things, or is greedy. Anyone who is greedy is serving a false god.

If a man is found having sexual relations with another man’s wife, both the woman and the man who had sexual relations with her must die. Get rid of this evil from Israel.

Also, do not wrong or cheat another Christian in this way. The Lord will punish people who do those things as we have already told you and warned you.

Deacons must have only one wife and be good leaders of their children and their own families.

An overseer must not give people a reason to criticize him, and he must have only one wife. He must be self-controlled, wise, respected by others, ready to welcome guests, and able to teach.

He must be a good family leader, having children who cooperate with full respect.

They forbid people to marry and tell them not to eat certain foods which God created to be eaten with thanks by people who believe and know the truth.

So I want the younger widows to marry, have children, and manage their homes. Then no enemy will have any reason to criticize them.

An elder must not be guilty of doing wrong, must have only one wife, and must have believing children. They must not be known as children who are wild and do not cooperate.

Be careful that no one takes part in sexual sin or is like Esau and never thinks about God. As the oldest son, Esau would have received everything from his father, but he sold all that for a single meal.

Outside the city are the evil people, those who do evil magic, who sin sexually, who murder, who worship idols, and who love lies and tell lies.
