Lord, how long must I ask for help and you ignore me? I cry out to you about violence, but you do not save us!

“I shout, ‘I have been wronged!’ But I get no answer. I scream for help but I get no justice.

You sit as the Holy One. The praises of Israel are your throne.

How long will the wicked be happy? How long, Lord?

Why are you like someone who has been attacked by surprise, like a warrior who is not able to save anyone? But you are among us, Lord, and we are called by your name so don’t leave us without help!

I cry out and beg for help, but he ignores my prayer.

Then the Lord’s angel asked, “Lord All-Powerful, how long will it be before you show mercy to Jerusalem and the cities of Judah? You have been angry with them for seventy years now.”

These souls shouted in a loud voice, “Holy and true Lord, how long until you judge the people of the earth and punish them for killing us?”
