If you are honest men, let one of your brothers stay here in prison while the rest of you go and carry grain back to feed your hungry families.

These people have been defeated and robbed. They are trapped in pits or locked up in prison. Like robbers, enemies have taken them away, and there is no one to save them. Enemies carried them off, and no one said, “Bring them back.”

You will help the blind to see. You will free those who are in prison, and you will lead those who live in darkness out of their prison.

Those rulers were very angry with Jeremiah and beat him. Then they put him in jail in the house of Jonathan the royal secretary, which had been made into a prison.
