Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is right for him.”

The man gave names to all the tame animals, to the birds in the sky, and to all the wild animals. But Adam did not find a helper that was right for him.

The Lord God used the rib from the man to make a woman, and then he brought the woman to the man.

God asked, “Who told you that you were naked? Did you eat fruit from the tree from which I commanded you not to eat?”

I have not hidden my sin as others do, secretly keeping my guilt to myself.

People’s own foolishness ruins their lives, but in their minds they blame the Lord.

If you hide your sins, you will not succeed. If you confess and reject them, you will receive mercy.

But the man, wanting to show the importance of his question, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

Because they did not know the way that God makes people right with him, they tried to make themselves right in their own way. So they did not accept God’s way of making people right.

Saul answered, “The soldiers took them from the Amalekites. They saved the best sheep and cattle to offer as sacrifices to the Lord your God, but we destroyed all the other animals.”
