The two angels came to Sodom in the evening as Lot was sitting near the city gate. When he saw them, he got up and went to them and bowed facedown on the ground.

So the men turned and went toward Sodom, but Abraham stood there before the Lord.

Remember to welcome strangers, because some who have done this have welcomed angels without knowing it.

No stranger ever had to spend the night in the street, because I always let travelers stay in my home.

Abram lived in the land of Canaan, but Lot lived among the cities in the Jordan Valley, very near to Sodom.

Then Abraham bowed down before the Hittites.

Then Joseph moved his sons off Israel’s lap and bowed facedown to the ground.

Boaz went to the city gate and sat there until the close relative he had mentioned passed by. Boaz called to him, “Come here, friend, and sit down.” So the man came over and sat down.

I would go to the city gate and sit in the public square.
