You cannot stretch out the sky like God and make it look as hard as polished bronze.

“The Lord made the earth by his power. He used his wisdom to build the world and his understanding to stretch out the skies.

The sky was made at the Lord’s command. By the breath from his mouth, he made all the stars.

you wear light like a robe. You stretch out the skies like a tent.

He spoke, and it happened. He commanded, and it appeared.

Praise him, highest heavens and you waters above the sky.

This message is the word of the Lord to Israel. This is what the Lord says, who stretched out the skies, and laid the foundations of the earth, and put the human spirit within:

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the skies announce what his hands have made.

Then God said, “Let the water be filled with living things, and let birds fly in the air above the earth.”

He breathes, and the sky clears. His hand stabs the fleeing snake.

Praise the Lord! Praise God in his Temple; praise him in his mighty heaven.

He fills the clouds with water and scatters his lightning through them.

If clouds are full of rain, they will shower on the earth. A tree can fall to the north or south, but it will stay where it falls.

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the sky to separate day from night. These lights will be used for signs, seasons, days, and years.

But the Lord is the only true God. He is the only living God, the King forever. The earth shakes when he is angry, and the nations cannot stand up to his anger.

But they do not want to remember what happened long ago. By the word of God heaven was made, and the earth was made from water and with water.

God sits on his throne above the circle of the earth, and compared to him, people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the skies like a piece of cloth and spreads them out like a tent to sit under.

Day after day they tell the story; night after night they tell it again.
