“Human, the city of Tyre has spoken against Jerusalem: ‘The city that traded with the nations is destroyed. Now we can be the trading center. Since the city of Jerusalem is ruined, we can make money.’

Hiram king of the city of Tyre sent messengers to David, along with cedar logs, carpenters, and stonecutters. They built a palace for David.

They speak against me and say, “Aha! We saw what you did!”

People are making fun of me. Let them be shamed into silence.

But let those who follow you be happy and glad. They love you for saving them. May they always say, “Praise the Lord!”

Let those who make fun of me stop because of their shame.

the people of Byblos, Ammon, Amalek, Philistia, and Tyre.

Go through, go through the gates! Make the way ready for the people. Build up, build up the road! Move all the stones off the road. Raise the banner as a sign for the people.

Then send messages to the kings of Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre, and Sidon by their messengers who have come to Jerusalem to see Zedekiah king of Judah.

The time has come to destroy all the Philistines. It is time to destroy all who are left alive who could help the cities of Tyre and Sidon. The Lord will soon destroy the Philistines, those left alive from the island of Crete.

This message is to the Ammonite people. This is what the Lord says: “Do you think that Israel has no children? Do you think there is no one to take the land when the parents die? If that were true, why did Molech take Gad’s land and why did Molech’s people settle in Gad’s towns?”

Jerusalem once was full of people, but now the city is empty. Jerusalem once was a great city among the nations, but now she is like a widow. She was like a queen of all the other cities, but now she is a slave.

Then I will give Moab, along with the Ammonites, to the people of the East as their possession. Then, along with the Ammonites, Moab will not be a nation anymore.

This is what the Lord God says: You have clapped your hands and stamped your feet; you have laughed about all the insults you made against the land of Israel.

“This is what the Lord God says: ‘Moab and Edom say, “The people of Judah are like all the other nations.”

It was the eleventh year of our captivity, on the first day of the month. The Lord spoke his word to me, saying:

“ ‘You said, “These two nations, Israel and Judah, and these two lands will be ours. We will take them for our own.” But the Lord was there.

This is what the Lord God says: The enemy has said about you, “Now the old places to worship gods have become ours.” ’

“Tyre and Sidon and all of you regions of Philistia! What did you have against me? Were you punishing me for something I did, or were you doing something to hurt me? I will very quickly do to you what you have done to me.

Then the border went back south toward Ramah and continued to the strong, walled city of Tyre. There it turned and went toward Hosah, ending at the sea. This was in the area of Aczib,
