“Human, give a riddle and tell a story to the people of Israel.
The Lord spoke his word to me, saying:
Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! The people are saying about me, ‘He is only telling stories.’ ”
Then all people will know that I, the Lord, have pulled my sword out from its holder. My sword will not go back in again.’
And tell a story to the people who refuse to obey me. Say to them: ‘This is what the Lord God says: Put on the pot; put it on and pour water in it.
I spoke to the prophets and gave them many visions; through them, I taught my lessons to you.”
The people of Gilead are evil, worth nothing. Though people sacrifice bulls at Gilgal, their altars will become like piles of stone in a plowed field.
This is as the prophet said: “I will speak using stories; I will tell things that have been secret since the world was made.”
It is the same with us. Now we see a dim reflection, as if we were looking into a mirror, but then we shall see clearly. Now I know only a part, but then I will know fully, as God has known me.
