“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt where you were slaves.

When all the people saw this, they fell down to the ground, crying, “The Lord is God! The Lord is God!”

They served idols when the Lord had said, “You must not do this.”

All these things happened because the Israelites had sinned against the Lord their God. He had brought them out of Egypt and had rescued them from the power of the king of Egypt, but the Israelites had honored other gods.

So the Lord his God handed over Ahaz to the king of Aram. The Arameans defeated Ahaz and took many people of Judah as prisoners to Damascus. He also handed over Ahaz to Pekah king of Israel, and Pekah’s army killed many soldiers of Ahaz.

God says, “My people, listen to me; Israel, I will testify against you. I am God, your God.

I, the Lord, am your God, who brought you out of Egypt. Open your mouth and I will feed you.

“But my people did not listen to me; Israel did not want me.

When you were in trouble, you called, and I saved you. I answered you with thunder. I tested you at the waters of Meribah.Selah

“From now on when your son asks you, ‘What does this mean?’ you will answer, ‘With his great power, the Lord brought us out from Egypt, the land where we were slaves.

Moses said to the people, “Remember this day, the day you left Egypt. You were slaves in that land, but the Lord with his great power brought you out of it. You must not eat bread made with yeast.

You keep your loving promise and lead the people you have saved. With your strength you will guide them to your holy place.

Terror and horror will fall on them. When they see your strength, they will be as still as a rock. They will be still until your people pass by, Lord. They will be still until the people you have taken as your own pass by.

He said, “You must obey the Lord your God and do what he says is right. If you obey all his commands and keep his rules, I will not bring on you any of the sicknesses I brought on the Egyptians. I am the Lord who heals you.”

Then God spoke all these words:

And they will know that I am the Lord their God who led them out of Egypt so that I could live with them. I am the Lord their God.

So tell the people of Israel that I say to them, ‘I am the Lord. I will save you from the hard work the Egyptians force you to do. I will make you free, so you will not be slaves to the Egyptians. I will free you by my great power, and I will punish the Egyptians terribly.

This is because I, the Lord, am your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt to pay for you, and I gave Cush and Seba to make you mine.

“People say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the people of Israel out of Egypt . . . ’ But the time is coming,” says the Lord, “when people will not say this anymore.

Your ancestors didn’t say, ‘Where is the Lord who brought us out of Egypt? He led us through the desert, through a dry and rocky land, through a dark and dangerous land. He led us where no one travels or lives.’

The Lord says, “At that time I will be God of all Israel’s family groups, and they will be my people.”

“This is the agreement I will make with the people of Israel at that time,” says the Lord: “I will put my teachings in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

“This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I brought your ancestors out of Egypt where they were slaves and made an agreement with them.

I am the Lord your God. Live by my rules, obey my laws, and follow them.

Say to them: ‘This is what the Lord God says: When I chose Israel, I made a promise to the descendants of Jacob. I made myself known to them in Egypt, and I promised them, “I am the Lord your God.”

I said to them, “Each one of you must throw away the hateful idols you have seen and liked. Don’t make yourselves unclean with the idols of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.”

I spoke to the prophets and gave them many visions; through them, I taught my lessons to you.”

“I, the Lord, have been your God since you were in the land of Egypt. You should have known no other God except me. I am the only one who saves.

I am the Lord who brought you out of Egypt to be your God; you must be holy because I am holy.

Your weights and balances should weigh correctly, with your weighing baskets the right size and your jars holding the right amount of liquid. I am the Lord your God. I brought you out of the land of Egypt.

so that all your descendants will know I made Israel live in shelters during the time I brought them out of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’ ”

I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give the land of Canaan to you and to become your God.

This is because the Israelites are my servants, and I brought them out of slavery in Egypt. They must not become slaves again.

This is because the people of Israel are servants to me. They are my servants, whom I brought out of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

“ ‘Don’t make idols for yourselves or set up statues or memorials. Don’t put stone statues in your land to bow down to, because I am the Lord your God.

I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, where you were slaves. I broke the heavy weights that were on your shoulders and let you walk proudly again.

It was I who brought you from the land of Egypt and led you for forty years through the desert so I could give you the land of the Amorites.

That Scripture says “anyone” because there is no difference between those who are Jews and those who are not. The same Lord is the Lord of all and gives many blessings to all who trust in him,

Is God only the God of the Jews? Is he not also the God of those who are not Jews?

You must throw stones at them until they die, because they tried to turn you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, where you were slaves.

Remember that you were slaves in Egypt, and the Lord your God saved you. That is why I am commanding this to you today.

When you go to war against your enemies and you see horses and chariots and an army that is bigger than yours, don’t be afraid of them. The Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, will be with you.

Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the Lord your God brought you out of there by his great power and strength. So the Lord your God has commanded you to rest on the Sabbath day.

“I am the Lord your God; I brought you out of the land of Egypt where you were slaves.

But the Lord chose you because he loved you, and he kept his promise to your ancestors. So he brought you out of Egypt by his great power and freed you from the land of slavery, from the power of the king of Egypt.

The angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bokim and said, “I brought you up from Egypt and led you to the land I promised to give your ancestors. I said, ‘I will never break my agreement with you.

Then I said to you, ‘I am the Lord your God. Live in the land of the Amorites, but do not worship their gods.’ But you did not obey me.”
