If you refuse to let my people go, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your country.

So Moses and Aaron went to the king and told him, “This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to be sorry for what you have done? Let my people go to worship me.

They will cover the land so that no one will be able to see the ground. They will eat anything that was left from the hailstorm and the leaves from every tree growing in the field.

I told you to let my son go so he may worship me. But you refused to let Israel go, so I will kill your firstborn son.’ ”

After Moses and Aaron talked to the people, they went to the king of Egypt and said, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Let my people go so they may hold a feast for me in the desert.’ ”

The king answered, “Tomorrow.” Moses said, “What you want will happen. By this you will know that there is no one like the Lord our God.

I will treat my people differently from your people. This miracle will happen tomorrow.’ ”

So at this time tomorrow, I will send a terrible hailstorm, the worst in Egypt since it became a nation.

The Lord has set tomorrow as the time he will do this in the land.’ ”

Locusts have no king, but they all go forward in formation.

“Though I sent my great army against you— those swarming locusts and hopping locusts, the destroying locusts and the cutting locusts that ate your crops— I will pay you back for those years of trouble.

You will plant much seed in your field, but your harvest will be small, because locusts will eat the crop.

Then locusts came down to the earth out of the smoke, and they were given the power to sting like scorpions.
