When the king returned from the palace garden to the banquet hall, he saw Haman falling on the couch where Esther was lying. The king said, “Will he even attack the queen while I am in the house?” As soon as the king said that, servants came in and covered Haman’s face.

Mordecai left the king’s presence wearing royal clothes of blue and white and a large gold crown. He also had a purple robe made of the best linen. And the people of Susa shouted for joy.

“Make for the Holy Tent ten curtains of fine linen and blue, purple, and red thread. Have a skilled craftsman sew designs of creatures with wings on the pieces of cloth.

You lie on beds decorated with ivory and stretch out on your couches. You eat tender lambs and fattened calves.

But Saul refused, saying, “I won’t eat.” His servants joined the woman in asking him to eat, and he listened to them. So he got up from the ground and sat on the bed.
