You saw my bones being formed as I took shape in my mother’s body. When I was put together there,

Some people are trying to kill me, but they will go down to the grave.

You made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.

When the Lord came down on top of Mount Sinai, he called Moses to come up to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

Who has gone up to heaven and come back down? Who can hold the wind in his hand? Who can gather up the waters in his coat? Who has set in place the ends of the earth? What is his name or his son’s name? Tell me, if you know!

So the trees that grow by the water will not be proud to be tall; they will not put their tops among the clouds. None of the trees that are watered well will grow that tall, because they all are meant to die and go under the ground. They will be with people who have died and have gone down to the place of the dead.

Jonah was in the stomach of the big fish for three days and three nights. In the same way, the Son of Man will be in the grave three days and three nights.

Jesus said to her, “Don’t hold on to me, because I have not yet gone up to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am going back to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”

The only one who has ever gone up to heaven is the One who came down from heaven—the Son of Man.

God’s bread is the One who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

I came down from heaven to do what God wants me to do, not what I want to do.

Some people began to complain about Jesus because he said, “I am the bread that comes down from heaven.”

I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give up so that the world may have life.”

I am not like the bread your ancestors ate. They ate that bread and still died. I am the bread that came down from heaven, and whoever eats this bread will live forever.”

Then will it also bother you to see the Son of Man going back to the place where he came from?

Jesus answered, “Yes, I am saying these things about myself, but they are true. I know where I came from and where I am going. But you don’t know where I came from or where I am going.

You made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.

But we see Jesus, who for a short time was made lower than the angels. And now he is wearing a crown of glory and honor because he suffered and died. And by God’s grace, he died for everyone.
