The living know they will die, but the dead know nothing. Dead people have no more reward, and people forget them.

We will all die someday. We’re like water spilled on the ground; no one can gather it back. But God doesn’t take away life. Instead, he plans ways that those who have been sent away will not have to stay away from him!

Their children are honored, but they do not know it; their children are disgraced, but they do not see it.

I know you will bring me down to death, to the place where all living people must go.

Lord, always remember their sins. Then make people forget about them completely.

Dead people don’t remember you; those in the grave don’t praise you.

But, Lord, I have called out to you for help; every morning I pray to you.

People don’t remember what happened long ago, and in the future people will not remember what happens now. Even later, other people will not remember what was done before them.

The wise person and the fool will both die, and no one will remember either one for long. In the future, both will be forgotten.

It is better to go to a funeral than to a party. We all must die, and everyone living should think about this.

I saw the funerals of evil people who used to go in and out of the holy place. They were honored in the same towns where they had done evil. This is useless, too.

Whatever work you do, do your best, because you are going to the grave, where there is no working, no planning, no knowledge, and no wisdom.

But anyone still alive has hope; even a live dog is better off than a dead lion!

Those masters are now dead; their ghosts will not rise from death. You punished and destroyed them and erased any memory of them.

You are our father. Abraham doesn’t know we are his children, and Israel doesn’t recognize us. Lord, you are our father. You are called “the one who has always saved us.”

Finally, the woman died also.

Just as everyone must die once and then be judged,
