So Lot went out and said to his future sons-in-law who were pledged to marry his daughters, “Hurry and leave this city! The Lord is about to destroy it!” But they thought Lot was joking.

Jesus said, “There was a rich man who always dressed in the finest clothes and lived in luxury every day.

On the day that God will show his anger, neither their silver nor gold will save them. The Lord’s anger will be like a fire that will burn up the whole world; suddenly he will bring an end, yes, an end to everyone on earth.”

I saw all of this as I considered all that is done here on earth. Sometimes people harm those they control.

I saw a man who had no family, no son or brother. He always worked hard but was never satisfied with what he had. He never asked himself, “For whom am I working so hard? Why don’t I let myself enjoy life?” This also is very sad and useless.

Riches will not help when it’s time to die, but right living will save you from death.

Fools will die because they refuse to listen; they will be destroyed because they do not care.

All greedy people end up this way; greed kills selfish people.

Then Abram brought back everything the enemy had stolen, the women and the other people, and Lot, and everything Lot owned.

But Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “I will give half of my possessions to the poor. And if I have cheated anyone, I will pay back four times more.”

At that time people will throw away their gold and silver idols, which they made for themselves to worship; they will throw them away to the bats and moles.

At that point Lot’s wife looked back. When she did, she became a pillar of salt.

“Evil people never lack an appetite, and nothing escapes their selfishness.

They lose it all in a bad deal and have nothing to give to their children.

Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich; be wise enough to control yourself.

Riches will not go on forever, nor do governments go on forever.
