These are the words of the Teacher, a son of David, king in Jerusalem.

Solomon ruled in Jerusalem over all Israel for forty years.

and that you have appointed prophets to announce in Jerusalem: “There is a king of Judah!” The king will hear about this. So come, let’s discuss this together.

I will tell about your goodness in the great meeting of your people. Lord, you know my lips are not silent.

These are the wise words of Solomon son of David, king of Israel.

Give her the reward she has earned; she should be praised in public for what she has done.

I, the Teacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem.

The Teacher says, “This is what I learned: I added all these things together to find some meaning for everything.

The Lord God has put his Spirit in me, because the Lord has appointed me to tell the good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort those whose hearts are broken, to tell the captives they are free, and to tell the prisoners they are released.

“Get up, go to the great city Nineveh, and preach to it what I tell you to say.”

And God punished the world long ago when he brought a flood to the world that was full of people who were against him. But God saved Noah, who preached about being right with God, and seven other people with him.
