Deuteronomy 5:27

Moses, you go near and listen to everything the Lord our God says. Then you tell us what the Lord our God tells you, and we will listen and obey.”

All the people answered together, “We will do everything he has said.” Then Moses took their answer back to the Lord.

When the people heard the thunder and the trumpet, and when they saw the lightning and the smoke rising from the mountain, they shook with fear and stood far away from the mountain.

Then they said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself, and we will listen. But don’t let God speak to us, or we will die.”

Moses told the people all the Lord’s words and laws for living. Then all of the people answered out loud together, “We will do all the things the Lord has said.”

Then the people said to Jeremiah, “May the Lord be a true and loyal witness against us if we don’t do everything the Lord your God sends you to tell us.

It does not matter if we like the message or not. We will obey the Lord our God, to whom we are sending you. We will obey what he says so good things will happen to us.”

No human being has ever heard the living God speaking from a fire and still lived, but we have.

The Lord heard what you said to me, and he said to me, “I have heard what the people said to you. Everything they said was good.

You have not come to the noise of a trumpet or to the sound of a voice like the one the people of Israel heard and begged not to hear another word.

Then the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the Lord our God, and we will obey him.”
