The priests must not marry widows or divorced women. They may marry only virgins from the people of Israel or widows of priests.

He must not marry a widow, a divorced woman, or a prostitute. He must marry a virgin from his own people

“ ‘A priest must not marry an unclean prostitute or a divorced woman, because he is holy to his God.

But if the priest’s daughter becomes widowed or divorced, with no children to support her, and if she goes back to her father’s house where she lived as a child, she may eat some of her father’s food. But only people from a priest’s family may eat this food.

“If a widow or divorced woman makes a promise, she must do whatever she promised.

But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife forces her to be guilty of adultery. The only reason for a man to divorce his wife is if she has sexual relations with another man. And anyone who marries that divorced woman is guilty of adultery.

He answered, “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman is guilty of adultery against her.

But if those who are not believers decide to leave, let them leave. When this happens, the Christian man or woman is free. But God called us to live in peace.

A man might marry a woman but later decide she doesn’t please him because he has found something bad about her. He writes out divorce papers for her, gives them to her, and sends her away from his house.
