Daniel 9:26

New Century Version

After the four hundred thirty-four years the appointed leader will be killed; he will have nothing. The people of the leader who is to come will destroy the city and the holy place. The end of the city will come like a flood, and war will continue until the end. God has ordered that place to be completely destroyed.

The Gibeonites said, “Saul made plans against us and tried to destroy all our people who are left in the land of Israel.

My strength has dried up like a clay pot, and my tongue sticks to the top of my mouth. You laid me in the dust of death.

Look, the Lord has someone who is strong and powerful. Like a storm of hail and strong wind, like a sudden flood of water pouring over the country, he will throw Samaria down to the ground.

Now, you must not make fun of these things, or the ropes around you will become tighter. The Lord God All-Powerful has told me how the whole earth will be destroyed.

Men took him away roughly and unfairly. He died without children to continue his family. He was put to death; he was punished for the sins of my people.

So I, the Lord, will bring the king of Assyria and all his power against them, like a powerful flood of water from the Euphrates River. The Assyrians will be like water rising over the banks of the river, flowing over the land.

Who is this, rising up like the Nile River, like strong, fast rivers?

The sea has risen over Babylon; its roaring waves cover her.

“The sons of the king of the North will prepare for war. They will get a large army together that will move through the land very quickly, like a powerful flood. Later, that army will come back and fight all the way to the strong, walled city of the king of the South.

The king of the North will decide to use all his power to fight against the king of the South, but he will make a peace agreement with the king of the South. The king of the North will give one of his daughters as a wife to the king of the South so that he can defeat him. But those plans will not succeed or help him.

He will sweep away in defeat large and powerful armies and even a prince who made an agreement.

“The king of the North will do whatever he wants. He will brag about himself and praise himself and think he is even better than a god. He will say things against the God of gods that no one has ever heard. And he will be successful until all the bad things have happened. Then what God has planned to happen will happen.

That leader will make firm an agreement with many people for seven years. He will stop the offerings and sacrifices after three and one-half years. A destroyer will do blasphemous things until the ordered end comes to the destroyed city.”

The Lord said, “Name him Lo-Ammi, because you are not my people, and I am not your God.

The whole land will shake because of it, and everyone who lives in the land will cry for those who died. The whole land will rise like the Nile; it will be shaken, and then it will fall like the Nile River in Egypt.”

The Lord God All-Powerful touches the land, and the land shakes. Then everyone who lives in the land cries for the dead. The whole land rises like the Nile River and falls like the river of Egypt.

But like a rushing flood, he will completely destroy Nineveh; he will chase his enemies until he kills them.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding feast for his son.

The king was furious and sent his army to kill the murderers and burn their city.

Now your house will be left completely empty.

Jesus asked, “Do you see all these buildings? I tell you the truth, not one stone will be left on another. Every stone will be thrown down to the ground.”

Jesus said, “Do you see all these great buildings? Not one stone will be left on another. Every stone will be thrown down to the ground.”

When you hear about wars and stories of wars that are coming, don’t be afraid. These things must happen before the end comes.

Jesus answered, “They are right to say that Elijah must come first and make everything the way it should be. But why does the Scripture say that the Son of Man will suffer much and that people will treat him as if he were nothing?

They will be killed by the sword and taken as prisoners to all nations. Jerusalem will be crushed by non-Jewish people until their time is over.

“As for these things you are looking at, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another. Every stone will be thrown down.”

They said that the Christ must suffer these things before he enters his glory.”

He said to them, “It is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day

I will not talk with you much longer, because the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me,

Christ had no sin, but God made him become sin so that in Christ we could become right with God.

Christ took away the curse the law put on us. He changed places with us and put himself under that curse. It is written in the Scriptures, “Anyone whose body is displayed on a tree is cursed.”

This is what you were called to do, because Christ suffered for you and gave you an example to follow. So you should do as he did.

Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross so we would stop living for sin and start living for what is right. And you are healed because of his wounds.

Christ himself suffered for sins once. He was not guilty, but he suffered for those who are guilty to bring you to God. His body was killed, but he was made alive in the spirit.
