The people were silent. They didn’t answer the commander at all, because King Hezekiah had ordered, “Don’t answer him.”

Now they are standing there with no answers for Job. Now that they are quiet, must I wait to speak?

I am like those who do not hear, who have no answer to give.

There is a time to tear apart and a time to sew together. There is a time to be silent and a time to speak.

No one knows what will happen next. Like a fish caught in a net, or a bird caught in a trap, people are trapped by evil when it suddenly falls on them.

The people were silent. They didn’t answer the commander at all, because King Hezekiah had ordered, “Don’t answer him.”

They told Isaiah, “This is what Hezekiah says: Today is a day of sorrow and punishment and disgrace, as when a child should be born, but the mother is not strong enough to give birth to it.

“No one should accuse or blame another person. Don’t blame the people, you priests, when they quarrel with you.

When the relatives come to get the bodies to take them outside, one of them will call to the other and ask, “Are there any other dead bodies with you?” That person will answer, “No.” Then the one who asked will say, “Hush! We must not say the name of the Lord.”

That is why the Lord says: “Look, I am planning trouble against such people, and you won’t be able to save yourselves. You will no longer walk proudly, because it will be a terrible time.

I hear these things, and my body trembles; my lips tremble when I hear the sound. My bones feel weak, and my legs shake. But I will wait patiently for the day of disaster that will come to the people who attack us.

That is why you need to put on God’s full armor. Then on the day of evil you will be able to stand strong. And when you have finished the whole fight, you will still be standing.

Remember this! In the last days there will be many troubles,
