So Jacob went down to Egypt, where he and his sons died.

So Israel took all he had and started his trip. He went to Beersheba, where he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

When I die, carry me out of Egypt, and bury me where my ancestors are buried.” Joseph answered, “I will do as you say.”

After Jacob finished talking to his sons, he lay down. He put his feet back on the bed, took his last breath, and died.

Then his father Israel came to Egypt; Jacob lived in Egypt.

Some time later, Joseph and his brothers died, along with all the people who had lived at that same time.

When the Israelites left Egypt, they carried the bones of Joseph with them. They buried them at Shechem, in the land Jacob had bought for a hundred pieces of silver from the sons of Hamor (Hamor was the father of Shechem). This land now belonged to Joseph’s children.

I gave Isaac two sons named Jacob and Esau. I gave the land around the mountains of Edom to Esau, but Jacob and his sons went down to Egypt.
