So the officer brought Paul’s nephew to the commander and said, “The prisoner, Paul, asked me to bring this young man to you. He wants to tell you something.”

Three days later Paul sent for the leaders there. When they came together, he said, “Brothers, I have done nothing against our people or the customs of our ancestors. But I was arrested in Jerusalem and given to the Romans.

So I, Paul, am a prisoner of Christ Jesus for you who are not Jews.

I am in prison because I belong to the Lord. Therefore I urge you who have been chosen by God to live up to the life to which God called you.

But because I love you, I am pleading with you instead. I, Paul, an old man now and also a prisoner for Christ Jesus,
