The argument was beginning to turn into such a fight that the commander was afraid some evil people would tear Paul to pieces. So he told the soldiers to go down and take Paul away and put him in the army building.

“Think about this, you who forget God. Otherwise, I will tear you apart, and no one will save you.

But Paul’s nephew heard about this plan and went to the army building and told Paul.

Some of the Jews had taken this man and planned to kill him. But I learned that he is a Roman citizen, so I went with my soldiers and saved him.

I wanted to know why they were accusing him, so I brought him before their council meeting.

The next day the horsemen went with Paul to Caesarea, but the other soldiers went back to the army building in Jerusalem.

But the officer Lysias came and used much force to take him from us.

I have gone on many travels and have been in danger from rivers, thieves, my own people, the Jews, and those who are not Jews. I have been in danger in cities, in places where no one lives, and on the sea. And I have been in danger with false Christians.

My dear brothers and sisters, always be willing to listen and slow to speak. Do not become angry easily,

But if you are selfish and have bitter jealousy in your hearts, do not brag. Your bragging is a lie that hides the truth.
