They give freely to the poor. The things they do are right and will continue forever. They will be given great honor.

Being kind to the poor is like lending to the Lord; he will reward you for what you have done.

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, then go and sell your possessions and give the money to the poor. If you do this, you will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.”

“I tell you, make friends for yourselves using worldly riches so that when those riches are gone, you will be welcomed in those homes that continue forever.

When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “There is still one more thing you need to do. Sell everything you have and give it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.”

But Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “I will give half of my possessions to the poor. And if I have cheated anyone, I will pay back four times more.”

The followers all decided to help the believers who lived in Judea, as much as each one could.

There were no needy people among them. From time to time those who owned fields or houses sold them, brought the money,

and gave it to the apostles. Then the money was given to anyone who needed it.

I really do not need to write you about this help for God’s people.

It is written in the Scriptures: “He gives freely to the poor. The things he does are right and will continue forever.”

Suppose someone has enough to live and sees a brother or sister in need, but does not help. Then God’s love is not living in that person.
