Then Paul stood before the meeting of the Areopagus and said, “People of Athens, I can see you are very religious in all things.

The things they said were about their own religion and about a man named Jesus who died. But Paul said that he is still alive.

Then the city clerk made the crowd be quiet. He said, “People of Ephesus, everyone knows that Ephesus is the city that keeps the temple of the great goddess Artemis and her holy stone that fell from heaven.

While Paul was waiting for Silas and Timothy in Athens, he was troubled because he saw that the city was full of idols.
