Acts 13:48

When those who were not Jewish heard Paul say this, they were happy and gave honor to the message of the Lord. And the people who were chosen to have life forever believed the message.

I will bow down facing your holy Temple, and I will thank you for your love and loyalty. You have made your name and your word greater than anything.

The eleven followers went to Galilee to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.

I, too, am a man under the authority of others, and I have soldiers under my command. I tell one soldier, ‘Go,’ and he goes. I tell another soldier, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and my servant does it.”

I have other sheep that are not in this flock, and I must bring them also. They will listen to my voice, and there will be one flock and one shepherd.

and for God’s scattered children to bring them all together and make them one.

When the governor saw this, he believed because he was amazed at the teaching about the Lord.

While Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people asked them to tell them more about these things on the next Sabbath.

Paul and Barnabas were against this teaching and argued with them about it. So the church decided to send Paul, Barnabas, and some others to Jerusalem where they could talk more about this with the apostles and elders.

When they read it, they were very happy because of the encouraging message.

Then those people who accepted what Peter said were baptized. About three thousand people were added to the number of believers that day.

They praised God and were liked by all the people. Every day the Lord added those who were being saved to the group of believers.

We went on ahead of Paul and sailed for the city of Assos, where he wanted to join us on the ship. Paul planned it this way because he wanted to go to Assos by land.

I said, ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ The Lord answered, ‘Get up and go to Damascus. There you will be told about all the things I have planned for you to do.’

Paul and the people chose a day for a meeting and on that day many more of the Jews met with Paul at the place he was staying. He spoke to them all day long. Using the law of Moses and the prophets’ writings, he explained the kingdom of God, and he tried to persuade them to believe these things about Jesus.

So the people in that city were very happy.

So this is what has happened: Although the Israelites tried to be right with God, they did not succeed, but the ones God chose did become right with him. The others were made stubborn and refused to listen to God.

All of you must yield to the government rulers. No one rules unless God has given him the power to rule, and no one rules now without that power from God.

We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him. They are the people he called, because that was his plan.

You know that the family of Stephanas were the first believers in Southern Greece and that they have given themselves to the service of God’s people. I ask you, brothers and sisters,

In Christ we were chosen to be God’s people, because from the very beginning God had decided this in keeping with his plan. And he is the One who makes everything agree with what he decides and wants.

And you will know that God’s power is very great for us who believe. That power is the same as the great strength

That is, in Christ, he chose us before the world was made so that we would be his holy people—people without blame before him.

Because of his love, God had already decided to make us his own children through Jesus Christ. That was what he wanted and what pleased him,

And now, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the Lord’s teaching will continue to spread quickly and that people will give honor to that teaching, just as happened with you.
