When they entered the city, they went to the upstairs room where they were staying. Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon (known as the Zealot), and Judas son of James were there.

We were all together in a room upstairs, and there were many lamps in the room.

But Peter stood up with the eleven apostles, and in a loud voice he spoke to the crowd: “My fellow Jews, and all of you who are in Jerusalem, listen to me. Pay attention to what I have to say.

Some of the followers were together: Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the two sons of Zebedee, and two other followers.

The girl at the door said to Peter, “Aren’t you also one of that man’s followers?” Peter answered, “No, I am not!”

Then Thomas (the one called Didymus) said to the other followers, “Let us also go so that we can die with him.”

Jesus took Peter, James, and John with him, and he began to be very sad and troubled.

Six days later, Jesus took Peter, James, and John up on a high mountain by themselves. While they watched, Jesus’ appearance was changed.

Jesus let only Peter, James, and John the brother of James go with him.

When Jesus was leaving, he saw a man named Matthew sitting in the tax collector’s booth. Jesus said to him, “Follow me,” and he stood up and followed Jesus.

From the Elder. To the chosen lady and her children: I love all of you in the truth, and all those who know the truth love you.

Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles.

Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you plan to show yourself to us and not to the rest of the world?”
