Lot said, “Sirs, please come to my house and spend the night. There you can wash your feet, and then tomorrow you may continue your journey.” The angels answered, “No, we will spend the night in the city’s public square.”

The servant led the men into Joseph’s house and gave them water, and they washed their feet. Then he gave their donkeys food to eat.

Food from Joseph’s table was taken to them, but Benjamin was given five times more food than the others. Joseph’s brothers ate and drank freely with him.

Everyone lies to his neighbors; they say one thing and mean another.

God would have known, because he knows what is in our hearts.

His words are slippery like butter, but war is in his heart. His words are smoother than oil, but they cut like knives.

How terrible it will be for those who try to hide things from the Lord and who do their work in darkness. They think no one will see them or know what they do.

Everything that is hidden will be shown, and everything that is secret will be made known.

Then Jesus turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? When I came into your house, you gave me no water for my feet, but she washed my feet with her tears and dried them with her hair.

Nothing in all the world can be hidden from God. Everything is clear and lies open before him, and to him we must explain the way we have lived.
