But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there a prophet of the Lord here? We can ask the Lord through him.” An officer of the king of Israel answered, “Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He was Elijah’s servant.”
So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom. After they had marched seven days, there was no more water for the army or for their animals that were with them.
Elisha was still talking with the leaders when the messenger arrived. The king said, “This trouble has come from the Lord. Why should I wait for the Lord any longer?”
Your people have become weak. They fall down and lie on every street corner, like animals caught in a net. They have felt the full anger of the Lord and have heard God’s angry shout.
People will wander through the land troubled and hungry. When they become hungry, they will become angry and will look up and curse their king and their God.
