Uzziah son of Amaziah became king of Judah during Jeroboam’s twenty-seventh year as king of Israel.

Don’t help those who are guilty of murder; let them run until they die.

So during Asa’s twenty-seventh year as king of Judah, Zimri became king of Israel and ruled in Tirzah seven days. The army of Israel was camped near Gibbethon, a Philistine town.

This is the vision Isaiah son of Amoz saw about what would happen to Judah and Jerusalem. Isaiah saw these things while Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah were kings of Judah.

They chose their own kings without asking my permission. They chose their own leaders, people I did not know. They made their silver and gold into idols, and for all this they will be destroyed.

Then they will say, “We have no king, because we didn’t honor the Lord. As for the king, he couldn’t do anything for us.”
