Then the people of the land killed all those who had made plans to kill King Amon, and they made his son Josiah king in his place.

As soon as Amaziah took strong control of the kingdom, he executed the officers who had murdered his father the king.

Then all the people of Judah made Uzziah king in place of his father Amaziah. Uzziah was sixteen years old.

King Amon’s officers made plans against him and killed him in his palace.

Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he ruled thirty-one years in Jerusalem.

The people of Judah chose Josiah’s son Jehoahaz and made him king in Jerusalem in his father’s place.

“ ‘Don’t take money to spare the life of a murderer who should be put to death. A murderer must be put to death.

“ ‘Don’t let murder spoil your land. The only way to remove the sin of killing an innocent person is for the murderer to be put to death.
