Then King Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, “There is one other prophet. We could ask the Lord through him, but I hate him. He never prophesies anything good about me, but always something bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.” Jehoshaphat said, “King Ahab, you shouldn’t say that!”

But Micaiah answered, “As surely as the Lord lives, I can tell him only what my God says.”

But Jehoshaphat asked, “Isn’t there a prophet of the Lord here? Let’s ask him what we should do.”

So Ahab king of Israel told one of his officers to bring Micaiah to him at once.

Evil will kill the wicked; those who hate good people will be judged guilty.

by what the enemy says and how the wicked look at me. They bring troubles down on me, and in anger they attack me.

Pull me from the mud, and do not let me sink. Save me from those who hate me and from the deep water.

A wise warning to someone who will listen is as valuable as gold earrings or fine gold jewelry.

Murderers hate an honest person and try to kill those who do right.

Do not correct those who make fun of wisdom, or they will hate you. But correct the wise, and they will love you.

They tell the seers, “Don’t see any more visions!” They say to the prophets, “Don’t tell us the truth! Say things that will make us feel good; see only good things for us.

Then the people said, “Come, let’s make plans against Jeremiah. Surely the teaching of the law by the priest will not be lost. We will still have the advice from the wise teachers and the words of the prophets. So let’s ruin him by telling lies about him. We won’t pay attention to anything he says.”

Then the officers said to the king, “Jeremiah must be put to death! He is discouraging the soldiers who are still in the city, and all the people, by what he is saying to them. He does not want good to happen to us; he wants to ruin us.”

You hate those who speak in court against evil, and you can’t stand those who tell the truth.

But I must say this, people of Jacob: The Lord is becoming angry about what you have done. My words are welcome to the person who does what is right.

Immediately the king sent a soldier to bring John’s head. The soldier went and cut off John’s head in the prison

“People will hate you, shut you out, insult you, and say you are evil because you follow the Son of Man. But when they do, you will be blessed.

I did works among them that no one else has ever done. If I had not done these works, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen what I have done, and yet they have hated both me and my Father.

The world cannot hate you, but it hates me, because I tell it the evil things it does.

Now am I your enemy because I tell you the truth?
