Brothers and sisters, we want you to know about those Christians who have died so you will not be sad, as others who have no hope.

What we tell you now is the Lord’s own message. We who are living when the Lord comes again will not go before those who have already died.

After that, we who are still alive will be gathered up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And we will be with the Lord forever.

So we should not be like other people who are sleeping, but we should be alert and have self-control.

He gave himself as a payment to free all people. He is proof that came at the right time.

This teaching is true: If we died with him, we will also live with him.

He gave himself for us so he might pay the price to free us from all evil and to make us pure people who belong only to him—people who are always wanting to do good deeds.

Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross so we would stop living for sin and start living for what is right. And you are healed because of his wounds.

Christ himself suffered for sins once. He was not guilty, but he suffered for those who are guilty to bring you to God. His body was killed, but he was made alive in the spirit.
