Saul knew David’s voice. He said, “Is that your voice, David my son?” David answered, “Yes, it is, my master and king.”

But the Spirit was helping him to speak with wisdom, and his words were so strong that they could not argue with him.

I will give you the wisdom to say things that none of your enemies will be able to stand against or prove wrong.

A gentle answer will calm a person’s anger, but an unkind answer will cause more anger.

Honest words are painful, but your arguments prove nothing.

Then the Spirit entered Amasai, the leader of the Thirty, and he said: “We belong to you, David. We are with you, son of Jesse. Success, success to you. Success to those who help you, because your God helps you.” So David welcomed these men and made them leaders of his army.

Argue my case and save me. Let me live by your promises.
