The messengers returned to Jacob and said, “We went to your brother Esau. He is coming to meet you and has four hundred men with him.”

So Esau said, “Then let me leave some of my people with you.” “No, thank you,” said Jacob. “I only want to please you, my master.”

Esau said, “I saw many herds as I was coming here. Why did you bring them?” Jacob answered, “They were to please you, my master.”

This poor man called, and the Lord heard him and saved him from all his troubles.

So go eat your food and enjoy it; drink your wine and be happy, because that is what God wants you to do.

Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy will be the fullest possible joy.

I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace while you trust in him. Then your hope will overflow by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Then Ruth said, “I hope I can continue to please you, sir. You have said kind and encouraging words to me, your servant, though I am not one of your servants.”

One day Ruth, the Moabite, said to Naomi, “I am going to the fields. Maybe someone will be kind enough to let me gather the grain he leaves behind.” Naomi said, “Go, my daughter.”
