Do not do wrong to repay a wrong, and do not insult to repay an insult. But repay with a blessing, because you yourselves were called to do this so that you might receive a blessing.

Joseph told his servants to fill his brothers’ bags with grain and to put the money the brothers had paid for the grain back in their bags. The servants were also to give them what they would need for their trip back home. And the servants did this.

Whoever gives evil in return for good will always have trouble at home.

Don’t say, “I’ll pay you back for the wrong you did.” Wait for the Lord, and he will make things right.

Those who lead good people to do wrong will be ruined by their own evil, but the innocent will be rewarded with good things.

And all those who have left houses, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children, or farms to follow me will get much more than they left, and they will have life forever.

“Then the King will say to the people on his right, ‘Come, my Father has given you his blessing. Receive the kingdom God has prepared for you since the world was made.

But I tell you, don’t stand up against an evil person. If someone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other cheek also.

But I say to you, love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you.

As Jesus started to leave, a man ran to him and fell on his knees before Jesus. The man asked, “Good teacher, what must I do to have life forever?”

Then an expert on the law stood up to test Jesus, saying, “Teacher, what must I do to get life forever?”

A certain leader asked Jesus, “Good Teacher, what must I do to have life forever?”

Wish good for those who harm you; wish them well and do not curse them.

If someone does wrong to you, do not pay him back by doing wrong to him. Try to do what everyone thinks is right.

We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him. They are the people he called, because that was his plan.

God planned for them to be like his Son; and those he planned to be like his Son, he also called; and those he called, he also made right with him; and those he made right, he also glorified.

Christ did this so that God’s blessing promised to Abraham might come through Jesus Christ to those who are not Jews. Jesus died so that by our believing we could receive the Spirit that God promised.

Be kind and loving to each other, and forgive each other just as God forgave you in Christ.

Be sure that no one pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to do what is good for each other and for all people.

You remember that after Esau did this, he wanted to get his father’s blessing, but his father refused. Esau could find no way to change what he had done, even though he wanted the blessing so much that he cried.

saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.”

And after you suffer for a short time, God, who gives all grace, will make everything right. He will make you strong and support you and keep you from falling. He called you to share in his glory in Christ, a glory that will continue forever.

But may the Lord keep me from harming his appointed king! Take the spear and water jug that are near Saul’s head. Then let’s go.”
