Adoniram was in charge of the men who were forced to do hard work. Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was the recorder.

Adoniram was in charge of the forced labor. When Rehoboam sent him to the people of Israel, they threw stones at him until he died. But King Rehoboam ran to his chariot and escaped to Jerusalem.

Azariah son of Nathan was in charge of the district governors; Zabud son of Nathan was a priest and adviser to the king;

They were descendants of the people that the Israelites had not destroyed. Solomon forced them to be slave workers, as is still true today.
