1 Kings 21:4

Ahab went home angry and upset, because he did not like what Naboth from Jezreel had said. (Naboth had said, “I will not give you my family’s land.”) Ahab lay down on his bed, turned his face to the wall, and refused to eat.

Then King Ahab went back to his palace in Samaria, angry and upset.

But people are tempted when their own evil desire leads them away and traps them.

Do not give the devil a way to defeat you.

But God said to Jonah, “Do you think it is right for you to be angry about the plant?” Jonah answered, “It is right for me to be angry! I am so angry I could die!”

But this made Jonah very unhappy, and he became angry.

It is better to see what you have than to want more. Wanting more is useless— like chasing the wind.

Anger kills the fool, and jealousy slays the stupid.

Naboth answered, “May the Lord keep me from ever giving my land to you. It belongs to my family.”

He asked Amnon, “Son of the king, why do you look so sad day after day? Tell me what’s wrong!” Amnon told him, “I love Tamar, the sister of my half-brother Absalom.”

Tamar was a virgin. Amnon made himself sick just thinking about her, because he could not find any chance to be alone with her.

But Saul refused, saying, “I won’t eat.” His servants joined the woman in asking him to eat, and he listened to them. So he got up from the ground and sat on the bed.

After these things had happened, this is what followed. A man named Naboth owned a vineyard in Jezreel, near the palace of Ahab king of Israel.

His wife, Jezebel, came in and asked him, “Why are you so upset that you refuse to eat?”

But all this does not really make me happy when I see that Jew Mordecai sitting at the king’s gate.”

Then the Lord said, “Do you think it is right for you to be angry?”

As the sun rose higher in the sky, God sent a very hot east wind to blow, and the sun became so hot on Jonah’s head that he became very weak and wished he were dead. He said, “It is better for me to die than to live.”
