Those who use the things of the world should live as if they were not using them, because this world in its present form will soon be gone.

People are like shadows moving about. All their work is for nothing; they collect things but don’t know who will get them.

It will be like waking from a dream. Lord, when you rise up, they will disappear.

People live, and people die, but the earth continues forever.

Invest what you have in several different businesses, because you don’t know what disasters might happen.

“Be careful not to spend your time feasting, drinking, or worrying about worldly things. If you do, that day might come on you suddenly,

Brothers and sisters, this is what I mean: We do not have much time left. So starting now, those who have wives should live as if they had no wives.

Those who are crying should live as if they were not crying. Those who are happy should live as if they were not happy. Those who buy things should live as if they own nothing.

So what reward do I get? This is my reward: that when I tell the Good News I can offer it freely. I do not use my full rights in my work of preaching the Good News.

The words “once again” clearly show us that everything that was made—things that can be shaken—will be destroyed. Only the things that cannot be shaken will remain.

But you do not know what will happen tomorrow! Your life is like a mist. You can see it for a short time, but then it goes away.

The Scripture says, “All people are like the grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field. The grass dies and the flowers fall,

The time is near when all things will end. So think clearly and control yourselves so you will be able to pray.

The world and everything that people want in it are passing away, but the person who does what God wants lives forever.
