When a man finds a wife, he finds something good. It shows that the Lord is pleased with him.

Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a wise wife is a gift from the Lord.

You ask, “Why?” It is because the Lord sees how you treated the wife you married when you were young. You broke your promise to her, even though she was your partner and you had an agreement with her.

But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife forces her to be guilty of adultery. The only reason for a man to divorce his wife is if she has sexual relations with another man. And anyone who marries that divorced woman is guilty of adultery.

So run away from sexual sin. Every other sin people do is outside their bodies, but those who sin sexually sin against their own bodies.

Now I will discuss the things you wrote me about. It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.

The husband should give his wife all that he owes her as his wife. And the wife should give her husband all that she owes him as her husband.

But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry. It is better to marry than to burn with sexual desire.

In the same way, husbands should love their wives as they love their own bodies. The man who loves his wife loves himself.

But each one of you must love his wife as he loves himself, and a wife must respect her husband.

He wants each of you to learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable.

They forbid people to marry and tell them not to eat certain foods which God created to be eaten with thanks by people who believe and know the truth.

If their fathers or brothers come to us and complain, we will say: ‘Be kind to the men of Benjamin. We did not get wives for Benjamin during the war, and you did not give the women to the men from Benjamin. So you are not guilty.’ ”
