The Lord will return his blood on his own head, because he struck two men more righteous and better than he, and killed them with the sword, while my father David did not know about it: Abner the son of Ner, commander of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, commander of the army of Judah.

“According to what I have seen, those who plow wrongdoing And those who sow trouble harvest it.

May the wicked fall into their own nets, While I pass by safely.

Let destruction come upon him when he is unaware, And let the net which he hid catch him; Let him fall into that very destruction.

Those who do injustice have fallen there; They have been thrust down and cannot rise.

He plans wickedness on his bed; He sets himself on a path that is not good; He does not reject evil.

¶My heart is steadfast, God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!

Such are the ways of everyone who makes unjust gain; It takes away the life of its possessors.

One who digs a pit will fall into it, And one who rolls a stone, it will come back on him.

But David knew that Saul was plotting evil against him; so he said to Abiathar the priest, “Bring the ephod here.”

David also said, “As the Lord lives, the Lord certainly will strike him, or his day will come that he dies, or he will go down in battle and perish.

Furthermore, the Lord will also hand Israel along with you over to the Philistines; so tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. Indeed, the Lord will hand the army of Israel over to the Philistines!”
