As fire kindles brushwood, as fire causes water to boil— To make Your name known to Your adversaries, That the nations may tremble at Your presence!

¶For wickedness burns like a fire; It consumes briars and thorns; It also sets the thickets of the forest aflame And they roll upward in a column of smoke.

“Why have your powerful ones been cut down? They do not stand because the Lord has thrust them away.

Therefore they will be like the morning cloud And like dew which soon disappears, Like chaff which is blown away from the threshing floor, And like smoke from a chimney.

The mountains will melt under Him And the valleys will be split, Like wax before the fire, Like water poured down a steep place.

Then it came about when the ark set out that Moses said, “Rise up, Lord! And may Your enemies be scattered, And those who hate You flee from Your presence.”
