Then I called upon the name of the Lord: “Please, Lord, save my life!”

For You have rescued my soul from death, My eyes from tears, And my feet from stumbling.

Rescue my soul, Lord, from lying lips, From a deceitful tongue.

The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul.

How long am I to feel anxious in my soul, With grief in my heart all the day? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

¶Arise, Lord, confront him, make him bow down; Save my soul from the wicked with Your sword,

Save my soul from the sword, My only life from the power of the dog.

Do not remember the sins of my youth or my wrongdoings; Remember me according to Your faithfulness, For Your goodness’ sake, Lord.

¶But as for me, my prayer is to You, Lord, at an acceptable time; God, in the greatness of Your mercy, Answer me with Your saving truth.

How long, God, will the enemy taunt You? Shall the enemy treat Your name disrespectfully forever?

How long, Lord? Will You be angry forever? Will Your jealousy burn like fire?

¶God of armies, do turn back; Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine,

For Your graciousness toward me is great, And You have saved my soul from the depths of Sheol.

¶Do return, Lord; how long will it be? And be sorry for Your servants.

“Behold, for my own welfare I had great bitterness; But You have kept my soul from the pit of nothingness, For You have hurled all my sins behind Your back.

My God, incline Your ear and hear! Open Your eyes and see our desolations and the city which is called by Your name; for we are not presenting our pleas before You based on any merits of our own, but based on Your great compassion.

“From the days of your fathers you have turned away from My statutes and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord of armies. “But you say, ‘How shall we return?’

to the praise of the glory of His grace, with which He favored us in the Beloved.
