Psalm 42:9

¶I will say to God my rock, “Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”

How long, Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my savior, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

To You, Lord, I call; My rock, do not be deaf to me, For if You are silent to me, I will become like those who go down to the pit.

I am bent over and greatly bowed down; I go in mourning all day long.

For You are the God of my strength; why have You rejected me? Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the pressure of the wicked; For they bring down trouble upon me And in anger they hold a grudge against me.

He alone is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I will not be greatly shaken.

Has God forgotten to be gracious, Or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion? Selah

And they remembered that God was their rock, And the Most High God their Redeemer.

My eye grows dim from misery; I have called upon You every day, Lord; I have spread out my hands to You.

With the ten-stringed lute and with the harp, With resounding music on the lyre.

Then I looked again at all the acts of oppression which were being done under the sun. And behold, I saw the tears of the oppressed and that they had no one to comfort them; and power was on the side of their oppressors, but they had no one to comfort them.

¶Why do you say, Jacob, and you assert, Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord, And the justice due me escapes the notice of my God”?

“Can a woman forget her nursing child And have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, but I will not forget you.
